BT Central Pricing Changes

I've noticed the following post at TB:

I was looking through the pricing from the BTwholesale website and noticed that there is new pricing effective from 01/01/2008 for CBC. I've done a search on here and the news and come up with nothing.

I've done a list of the various centrals below with the new pricing next to them and put the May-07 pricing in brackets.

2 Mbit/s - £10,680 (£11,250)

10 Mbit/s - £26,120 (£30,720)

34 Mbit/s - £51,000 (£66,000)

155 Mbit/s - £196,200 (£271,800)

155 Mbit/s L2TP - £180,600 (£248,400)

622 Mbit/s L2TP - £828,400 (£1,162,600)

622 Mbit/s L2TP (at 0 Mbit/s) - £160,000 (N/A)

622 Mbit/s L2TP (at 155 Mbit/s) - £326,800 (£290,200)

622 Mbit/s L2TP (at 310 Mbit/s) - £493,600 (£580,400)

622 Mbit/s L2TP (at 465 Mbit/s) - £660,400 (£1,279,560)

The bandwidth rental fee has also changed from £0.63 (May-07) to £1.25 (Jan-08).

It'll be interesting to see what ISPs do with the savings, if anything. Now where was that thread about increased allowances and roll-over months...

I would also be happy for IDNet to use the savings to continue offering a good service. However, the prospect of freebies is the overriding thought at the moment.

I'd go for a mug or badge. However if any extra cash goes into maintaining or even improving a good service I'll be happy with that.

I suspect IDNet may well need to spend at least some of the savings on standing still IYSWIM. That would suit me.

It's strange that BT have put the prices down. Usually you can be sure prices will go up!

IDNet clearly have plenty of capacity and don't put too many users on pipes as it is, so I doubt that the savings will go towards extra capacity, but at least it'll save them a bit of cash.

The new pricing seems to be very similar to be 21CN WBMC product, so perhaps BT are trying to synchronise their pricing. It's also interesting to note the end user bandwidth rental fee almost doubled, so while pricing overall has dropped it has become more expensive to overload centrals.

It's certainly not going to be cheap to implement, and I've always been a bit surprised that they haven't opted to switch to a new system completely.
