When I try to open Media Centre it crashes, it's done that from the start of receiving this new pc! Any ideas of what the problem is?

When you say it crashes, what exactly does it do? Does the whole computer freeze up? Or do you need to close MC via the Task Manager? Have you got a TV card in the computer?

Sounds like a bad install of Windows to be honest or a file association error, have you added any other software since you got it? And what have you removed? If it came with Norton or McAfee have you ran their removal tools before installing any new av? I found a couple of issues that may effect XP media centre edition J!ll

Problems with Media centre include:

* The program is so tied to Microsoft via its Internet connection that almost any disruption to the network connection causes a crash.

* Playback of a recorded DVB-T program within which signal quality fell causing dropouts causes a crash necessitating a complete reboot of the machine.

I dont know if these two issues cause your crash

1. Added lots of software

2. Not removed anything
3. Didn't come with Norton or McAfee

Might be an idea to see if there are new NIC drivers for your pc as it appears most crashes are due to network issues so it could be your network card J!ll, so see if there are new drivers to start with and if so update them then work from there

What NIC and graphics card you got J!ll? as some new Nvidia ones are not that great latest marvel yukon driver if you have that is here just add you OS and details
