vulnerability in RealPlayer, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an unspecified error and can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow

This is in version 11 and may be in other versions as well.

This Vulnerability is unpatched  and users are advised not to use real player for the time being.

Damn BBC content using realplayer  :rant2:

Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Hey Kill

I wonder if the bbc will continue to use realplayer as they are now using flash for the iplayer service. Or is this just wishful thinking  :-\

Just realised would still be not better off as, not sure about flash as an audio player.

Buzz

I use Real Alternative.

Perhaps removing your old Realplayer and trying that might make things a little more secure?

I find that real alternative does not offer all of what I need Buzz and since i don't let real player do anything without my permission I'm not to fussed, also the new feature in 11 to download flash videos is great  ;D all software has security issues you just have to keep an eye out and stay up to date

The new flash player player has support for H.264 video and HE-AAC audio codecs so maybe not all that bad  ;)
