Windows media player 11 will not play anything?

OK, first of all I know SFA about any of this, however I have read on another forum of a user coming across a similar problem, the advice given was to download this alternative;

Take a look, see what you reckon. ;)

That's what I've been using for a few years now and it's never let me down.  Plays mkv videos with multiple audio and subtitle streams straight out of the box without the need to install a plethora of codecs.

thanks guys. lots of help here!! I hav ethat codec pack already and you're it, it is good. i have the video sort of working now but still no audio.  :-[
