Bear in mind i know nothing about how a modem/router works.

At what point with a non interleaved line does the connection become unstable.

My SNR margin downstream (which is the only one that seems to move ) figure gets as low as  8.4 is this likely to cause me problems?

Bill

If it actually says SNR Margin, then it's how much "spare" signal you've got over the minimum required to maintain reliable sync, and should be able to go to zero, or even slightly negative, without problem.

If it just says SNR then it will depend on what the DSLAM at the exchange is set to- I think 9dB is the usual and if it goes below that then you could have a problem.

It sounds as though you're OK- I think most routers quote SNR Margin as it means that you don't have to know the DSLAM setting to see if you're approaching a problem.

Thanks Bill , its the top left number thats changing. (this is a old screen interleaving is now off)

It stays arounf 10 - 11 most of the time with the odd drop to 8.

with my current router my SNR can drop to less than 2 and still keep sync. so, 10 is fine :)
