When you are connected via a contended exchange, speedtest variances are quite evident, even if you perform the tests in quick succession. I`ve suffered terrible exchange contention in the past but glad to say that apparently all seems well ... I feel your pain but unfortunately, yer just gonna have to grin and bear it :\

should be ok on 50:1 contention tho surely? :( never had problems before but then I have moved house (same exchange tho).

damn those people who leech bandwidth :( if only they would go out and buy dvd's like the rest of us :) cheepskates

You may not have had problems before, but things change ... any new houses being built around your way? Recent new ADSL signups, kids off school, all contributing factors of contention :\

Whilst suffering mega throughput issues, my ISP at the time performed a lift and shift which improved my throughput no end, same exchange, same ISP, different linecard s`all. These days though, it is nigh on impossible to get the same unless your throughput is consistantly 30% below MSR (known as FTR). Even then, it is up to BTw what they do and they won`t even divulge the ISP.
