I cant see the photo gallery anywhere.

Where are you looking? You need to visit your account page first and set it up from there (same for blog and webspace). That will give you a URL to your album.

I think it is a little over complicated, though i understand it,would it not have been easier just to have a photo forum where members can post and view each others photos.

Not every customer is a forum member, of course - though we're working on that.
