Wasn't sure where to put this post as i'm sure its more to do with the pc than the router.

Just received my 2700HGV today (Box was unopened so I guess it is new). Seems to be the dual SSID Fusion model and came with v5.29.107.12 firmware.

Previously we had a Belkin router with 3 Desktops and 1 Laptop, all running wireless except for my Desktop.

Just set up the router using This page as a guide. Router is working well, wireless signal is far better throughout the house which is one of the reasons I bought it. I seem to have dropped sync from 8128 to 7616 aswell although that might not be connected to the router change?

2 Desktops work just fine and the Laptop is working aswell, however the last remaining desktop doesn't seem to detect there is even a wireless network there ???. As far as I can tell I put in the exact same config on that pc as I did on the others.

I can't think what the problem might be.. it was working fine with the Belkin router on wireless. Ran a wire to it for now which is working but i'd like to get it on wireless. Anyone any idea what the problem might be?

Have you changed any of the wireless settings on the router?

Only named the network and enabled WEP.

My initial thought was that either it was WPA and the device didn't support it, or you'd hidden the SSID. Seems that isn't the case, I'm not sure.

I had initially hidden the SSID but changed it back once I couldn't connect with that pc. All the other pcs worked just fine with the hidden SSID.

WEP is really very weak, you'd do better to use WPA.

What wireless card/adaptor are you using on the PC which won't connect. It might be worth trying to connect with no security on the router initially, and see if that solves it. If it does, it's down to configuration. If it doesn't, it would seem to suggest something to do with the wireless card on the PC.

In the past I've had wireless cards that simply refuse to see hidden networks, but if it doesn't work with it disabled it may be another issue. Have you tried with WEP off? Or have you tried manually adding the network instead of using the Windows wizards?

try putting the laptop right next to this pc that wont work.. does your laptop get wireless at the same location? If not, then you have a dead spot.

The two wireless desktops both have Belkin F5D7000 Wireless Cards, I'll give it a go without security when I get home later, gotta run!

I'll use WPA for sure... once I get it all working. ;)

Well, as Paul suggests, test for a dead spot. If none of the above works, come back and we'll kick the tyres some more.
