The weird thing is.. IDnet and BT say i have been connected to there equip for 2 days without a disconnect or re-sync.. And the person i spoke to on the phone said the retrains would show me reconnecting to the equip..

So the question is... is the router at fault and reporting wrong information?

ERR_LOS_LIMIT = loss of signal, Says in the 2wire manual.

I wonder does signal mean sync or PPP session? Most routers, LOS would be sync.

It has to be a possibility. :(

detailed log has reported both.. but more sync loss.

i have rebooted the router and still getting Uncancelled Echo:     13.9 dB     Suspicious - check phone filters and alarm this cleared saturday when i rebooted but its now staying.

Rik

That needs to be looked at. Have you told IDNet about it? It sounds like a job for the SFI team.

I told the person on the phone. he didnt seem to bothered to be honest.

Just told me to put the netgear back and let them know tomorrow.

So i will do that before i go to bed tonight.. in the mean time, i'm logging everything the 2wire gives me as i'm fed up now and want this problem fully sorted out.

Just got a few "connection reset" messages when browsing sites  :-\

psp83

whats the number for fault checking on the line?

Rik

17070, option 1 is ringback, option 2 is quiet line, the rest need a PIN.

Rik

There isn't one. It's worth doing the quiet line, and report a voice fault if you hear crackles, but beyond that, unless you hear an echo on voice calls, there's little testing you can do.

One trick published here, and my apologies for forgetting the member's name, is to report that you get an intermittent crossed line and can hear other people's conversations. That will get a pair swap for you, but it may be good or bad news in terms of ADSL.

I think i'll leave that one for now :P my line was fine, but something happened in the early hours off sat morning and had problems ever since. Surly your sync shouldn't keep decreasing if your line is meant to stable  ???

Rik

No. My hunch is BT did some work at the exchange and knocked something... But then I'm like that - blame BT at the drop of a hat. :)

i just unplugged everything, even the RJ11 from the wall socket.. powered down the router first thou..

Uncancelled Echo:     -3.5 dB     Ok

Current Rate:         6368 kbs         448 kbs
Max Rate:       6380 kbs       1084 kbs
Current Connection:
Current Noise Margin:       12.0 dB       25.0 dB
Current Attenuation:       37.0 dB       25.0 dB
Current Output Power:       19.8 dBm       12.0 dBm

So its slightly better. Maybe it is the router  :-\

Line test was well.. couple times i heard a noise like someone walking through dry leafs or something like that with a couple of pops. but then went clear and then came back again then went etc.

Rik

You shouldn't hear anything at all - except maybe a slight hiss. I'd say it would be worth reporting as a voice fault, see if they pick anything up on their tests (I think you can do an automated test yourself on 151).

i've tried 151.. it does the check then says the phone is in use. please press 1 to hang up to check your equipment..

psp83

Well i'm back on the Netgear DG834G at the mo, getting better pings than what i did with the 2wire.

Profile was on 1250 earlier, its back up to 5500 now.. The profile changed quite quick  ???

Simon

That's rather off-putting.  I don't know whether to use my 2700 now, when it arrives.   :-\

No prob... Me and Adam had the same kind of retrain problem thou, but his line wasn't hit as hard as mine was  :-\

Maybe there was a faulty batch off routers  ???

Have to remember to phone support tomorrow so they can run there tests on this router.

Keep us updated on what happens; I for one would be interested to see if it is the 2700 (or that batch) that is causing problems.

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 5500 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  6272 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5130 kbps

Now i've got to wait for my SNR to decrease now.

Off to work now and will phone IDnet when i get there.

Rik

Sounds like we may have encountered our second batch of faulty routers. :( I'm assuming your profile recovered quickly as it was a big step...

yeh, it was about a 5000 increase.

Just phoned idnet, the netgear has been stable all night unlike the 2wire.

Got told that 6272 sync will be the best i will ever get, but since i've been with idnet i have been getting top sync! As my sig proves.
