We can all blame BT for profiles. They are only there to take the load off their systems  >:( >:(

You must keep trying the BT speed tester so we can make sure this is a profile issue (which I'm 99.9% sure it is). Does it keep saying it's busy?

pup

yes, thought once it said something like "cannot get all connection detail for phone number, contact isp"

im sure it will be ok

Si

Whenever it works for me it has always been using IE, rather than any version of Firefox...
Simon

For the avoidance of confusion I'm not THAT Simon, or the OTHER Simon. :)

Sebby

I have got it to work in Firefox, but IE may be better. :)

Lance

Most people get it to work eventually in IE, but often struggle with Firefox. Unfortunately, only the BT speedtest can confirm your profile.

I still hope that one day, IDNet will find a way to get it displayed in our control panel like Entanet do, but that's another story (and has already been discussed in the past). ;)

Lance

It would certainly make life much easier  :P

SUCCESS  got the bt test to work finally  ::)

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  5952 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1870 kbps

So I take it that I'm waiting for my profile to update?

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:   448 / 5,952

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:   11.5 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:   13.0 / 23.0

Congratulations! :karmic:

The profile is wrong, as I suspected. You should be on a 5000k profile, so just give it a few more days. :)

It looks like your target SNRM is also set at 15dB. I get confused with everyone's setups here! I think you still have a modem, which accounts for why this is the case (lots of re-syncs are seen as instability by the exchange, and it pushes up this figure to cause you to sync lower, which is supposed to make the line more stable). Of course, your line isn't unstable, just the exchange sees it this way. If you do get a router, try and leave it sync'd for 14 or more days at a time. Each time you re-sync after a 14 day period of sync, this figure should drop by 3dB, until eventually it reaches it's lowest and default value of 6dB. All being well, you'll reach this and should have full sync of 8,128k and a 7,150k profile. :)

Hi Pup

It's a classic migration issue. As Sebby says, give it a few days, but if it's still stuck on Friday, have a word with IDNet.

I just edited my post with some more information about your stats (I managed to miss those first time) so you might find this useful. :)

Lance

Glad you finally managed to get the speedtest to run, pup!

It shouldn't be much longer for the profile to move. Given that it's only been 2 days, it's reasonable for it not to have updated yet.

pup

idnet went live 230am ish monday 4th (thats when my router resync itself) so now it a waiting game for bt system to catch up :grn:
