Evening all,

Switched to IDNet from Hi-Velocity on the 4th Sept. Ive been having issues with my connection ever since. Gave it the 10 day "bedding in" period but not has changed.

MY connection keeps freezing, probably between 10-15 times a day. The only way I can get round this is to recycle the power on my Router (Netgear DG834PN).

I get the following messages in the router logs:

Wed, 2006-09-20 16:52:05 - Initialize LCP.

This is just a small sample.

Any ideas before I get support involved?

Many thanks in advance.

Just a shot in the dark'
Set MTU @ 1478 and rwin @ 51768 with Dr TCP.
Ensure you set the router MTU @ 1478 too.
This solved problems I had way back.

Definitely get support involved.  It's a PPP layer problem; what's supposed to happen is that the LCP establishes the connection, it then gets authenticated, and off you go.  Here, it seems that the PPP session is being established, but there is no attempt to authenticate it (or at least no response from the authentication server that makes its way back to your router), hence it has another go a minute later.  It could occur for a variety of reasons, and only support will be able to tell (although even they might find it a rather tricky one, as there's a good chance that the authentication packets, if they're even sent, don't make it to their authentication server, so it may just appear to them that you're simply invisible for those periods).

Did this definitely happen as soon as the switch occurred, and never before?  I ask, because the power down+up again fix would normally suggest something wrong with the router, but if it exactly and definitely coincided with the move, then it's probably a different reason.

Nope has only started happening since I swutched to IDNET. I'll contact support and see what they say.

same problem here, Netgear DG834GT.

Good points karv :)

Guys, are you migrating to a like for like service, ie, MaxDSL to MaxDSL?

Can you log onto BT Speedtest and stay successfully logged on. I know this might be a pain, but if you`re out at work, perhaps worth a try?

Still though as karv suggests, you really need to speak to CS ;)
