Hi all,

i have just been through the signup process to migrate in (quoting a MAC code) and all went well until the last page which stated that my card had been charged £71.99 - so IDnet have added an activation charge for a migration?!?!

I have emailed support.

Would I be correct in assuming that support is just 9-5 weekdays?

Another question...

Is there any way to limit the months useage? I am just very slightly concerned that if something went wild whilst I was away £1 per gig on an 8Mb/s line could very quickly escalate to a very significant sum.

Tim.

One thing clear, there is no charge for migration. Something is wrong here but I`ll bet pound to a penny that IDNet will recompense you for this obvious error ;)

Support is officially 9-5 weekdays but ISP representation is 24/7. I wouldn`t be surprised if someone from IDNet responded to your e-mail post haste. Simon and Miriam often pop in here ;)

There is a customer portal so that you can view your online usage. Unlike other ISPs, IDNet won`t cut you off if you go over your limit, but will charge you £1 per extra gigabyte ... there is no cap on this so if you go over by 200 gigabytes, you`ve been warned! :)

Welcome aboard Tim, I`m unhappy that things haven`t gone smoothly to date :(

Tim, I think you will find that someone from IDNet would get in contact with you, if you showed signs of reaching and going over the cap limit   ;)

TimJ

Thanks for the fast replies.

My guess is that the signup scripts have been modified to cope with MaxDSL and a bug has crept in. Or perhaps I have had too much wine to fill the form in correctly....

Having the ability to set a montlhy limit would be a nice safety stop but I can live without it.

Tim.

:D Well, I`ve dropped a few clangers along the way thru drink :)

Not to say that it isn`t a glitch mind. I`ve e-mailed Simon and Miriam personally on your behalf ... though they might be in the boozer too, and noone here would deny them that, they`re good eggs ;)

You`ll be OK m8, like Xban says, they`ll let u know if you`re approaching your cap ... remember, only downloads are counted so P2P away man! You only get 30GB included, but it`s quality 30GB ;)

TimJ

I had a call from Simon early this morning (Monday) and all sorted with a refund of activation fee.  And soon afterwards I had another from Miriam confirming that the migration order was complete.

So should be connected to IDNet by Thursday, so entirely happy so far.
