Just a little survey to find out how many of us "IDNetters" have achived higher speed
I.E. 1mb up and beyond 2mb
      2mb up and beyond 4mb   :)

Glenn

I'm sync'ing at 3520K, but real world d/l's are max'ing at around 185KB/s, I just got that with the 10mb test file from Zen

I can't get over 2mb throughput, and am syncing at rates of ~5700Kbps.

[EDIT: Make that 5216 kbps now. :P ]

still stuck @ 2Mb.
Synch 8128
SNR 17db down
SNR 22db up

Well stop being a "tight fisted Welshman" and spend less on the bike   ;D

My bike will always have priority, so far max dsl sucks, at this rate bt will have me back on dial-up!

Has anyone syncing at 8128 had the cap removed? I'm wondering if BT might be letting the slower lines out first...

Ok help me out here this is what my router is telling me.

now how do I find out what i'm syncing at?

Its nice to be important, but its more important to be nice.

My home circuit has sync'd at 8128 but can't manage a throughput higher than 2Mb. I spent a long time on the phone with BT today and they couldn't/wouldn't give me an answer that makes sense. We're not even allowed to report a fault on a line until the 10 day period is up.

They are your sync speeds- you're sync'd at 2688Kbps downstream (not to good), 448Kbps upstream (highest it will go)

Sync'd at 8128 kbps and still capped at 2mbit speeds.

"Has anyone syncing at 8128 had the cap removed? I'm wondering if BT might be letting the slower lines out first..."

Thats a good point, ive not seen anyone in any forum say they sync at 8128 kbps AND have the cap removed, but seen a lot have 8128 kbps and still a cap.

Now i wish i was capped at 7000kbps  :P

Bill

I've put a post up in Broadband Chatter, we'll see if anyone can shoot me down.

Not that there's anything we can do about it either way :(

Well I am getting there.....down to 7024kbps now, still 2mb  :(
This time tomorrow I will be approx 5xxx   :(

"Checked with BT the best I can expect is 3500"

My check -:
"Our initial test on your line indicates that you should be able to have BT Broadband with download speeds up to 4Mb."

Nah...me too. However without any empirical evidence I'd say browsing feels punchier. This is definitely one of those times when it's best to kick back, chill out and let thinks happen.

Well, a couple of hours, a few hundred views and a minor spat with Phil Yarwell later- no takers for 8128 with no cap  >:(

Look like we just have to wait it out...

;D ;D just been reading them.....I was waiting for the "minor spat" to grow  ;)

Bill

I'd be very wary of getting into a serious spat with Phil- he knows his stuff. I think this time he either mis-read or mis-understood my post.

It happens...[shrug]

Sto (welcome m8), lower sync speed might not make much of a difference, there`s more to this Max than BT are telling us I suspect.

I`m synced at 7, maximum kilobytes per seconds (this is what you see in the window when you`re downloading to those folk who haven`t figured out that sync speed and throughput are different :) ) I can acheive right now is 125kb/sec. If I sync at 4MBit, it won`t change I suspect. Contention all over again :(

Xbandito

I thought "contention" was a thing of the past with Max   ???

From Simon:

BT no longer quote 'Contention ratios' for their products. They say that they have now "progressed" to describing performance in terms of "End User experience" which in turn is expressed in terms of "data throughput"...... hmmm
