With my previous Speedtouch router and wireless access point my laptop could 'see' files on the main computer in directories I have set set to share.

Since swapping in the 2701 router the laptop can no longer see them.  No other settings on either machine have been changed.

Is there some setting on the 2701, maybe the firewall, that I am missing?

The laptop is present as active in the 'local network' router page, but the only settings there are to allow connections to the laptop from the internet for gaming and such like.  I can't see settings for access between devices on the local network.  What else can I try? ???

Did you previously have a separate router and WAP, Jupiter, and are you now using just the 2700 to provide the wireless connection? Can the lappy connect to the net OK?

I wonder if in setting up the new connection (to the 2701), it has somehow turned off the file and printer sharing?

The first time I logged into my 2700, I was shown file sharing options on each machine - I've never seen it since though. I wonder if it could be linked to Jupiter's problem.

Yes, it was a WAP before. The internet connection from the laptop is fine

I never saw that and certainly can't find it now.  Oddly enough, the laptop can see the printers on the network!

When I plug the laptop into the ethernet connection in another room - then it can see everything - so there is something about wireless going wrong I think.

Very odd. File sharing should be a machine-level setting and nothing to do with the router. Have you tried creating a new share, to see if it picks that up OK?

Thanks for the comments.  I re-did the whole file sharing permissions routine. The first time it made no difference, but when I did it a second time, that did the trick.

So another happy customer.  :)
