I've just managed to clear task manager... Always on top was ticked.. Still no icons along the top though.

I've managed to R/C and go into end process.. It shows FF as 32,188 is that what you wanted Rik.
Alan

Rik

That's small - mine is 82K.

The bit I actually want is highlighted below.

Mine is 89k, so something doesn't seem right with Alans, not bragging honest..  ;)
Anything and everything that I post on here is purely my opinion, it ain't going to change the world, you are under no obligation to agree with me, it is purely my expressed opinion.

Sorry, Alan, I can't make anything out there. Are you hitting Alt+PrtScr? It looks like you may have just hit PrtScr which captures the whole thing, not just the active window.

That's better, Alan. It certainly seems small for Firefox, but that may be down to the number of add-ons you run. What do you have?

Can you get a shot of the performance tab that I illustrated?

Did you try the trick I posted earlier?

"This problem is easy to fix, I hope, the Task Manager is running in "tiny footprint mode". To correct this, simply double-click on the border around the window and it will return to its normal state. To place task manager back in "tiny footprint mode" again, double click again on the border around the window."

Sorry Rik.. I missed your posting about that earlier... A double click done the job. I've been putting up with that for months as well.
.
It says Physical Memory Total 3143772. Available 2671756. System Cache 399504.
Is that what you were after.?
Alan

Rik

Yes, thanks, Alan. You're not low on memory, so that's something else ruled out.

I'm out of ideas right now. I'll have a chat with Lance and Simon and do some digging, but I don't have any clear idea what could be happening here.

I'll get back to you asap, or maybe someone else will know what this is about and come up with the answer in between.

Many Thanks for your efforts. I certainly learn a thing or two when I pose a query.
.
How about a live chat feature on Idnetters? It would be a lot easier. :)
.
Regards and Thanks again.

Hi Alan

Long shot time, but I've just changed your theme to Core, let me know if that helps. (I'm Googling like mad!)

We did run a chat room for a while, but it wasn't used and it meant that not everyone had a chance to read and comment on issues.

One more thought, Alan. Do you have the 'always stay logged in' box checked? If not, could you try doing that please.

alan

Rik, Yes I've always had stay logged on checked.... Just done a few "marked as read" and they have cleared OK.
I will keep trying during the evening, so far so good.  :)
Alan

Rik

Are you comfortable with 'Core', Alan? If you can stick with it, and the problem doesn't return, it may well point us at the cause.

Do you recall which 'mark as read' button you used, the top one or the bottom one?

alan

Yes, Thanks Rik. Totally happy. It was always the top button. Didn't realise the one at the bottom existed....
