That DSLZone result is about what I get, so I would think that is about as good as it gets.

You cannot complain at that speed, I bet it is one of the fastest up to 8MB on there.

It looks like things have improved (although the upload is a little strange, but probably just down to the tester). Try the BT speed tester when you can just to make certain.

yes, the Namco test is nice to look at but I dont trust its accuracy for some reason heh

I think I can run a BT test at about 5.30. So ill try that

Ive noticed a difference in opening webpages since changing my RWIN setting...

I was wrong I could do another BT test so I did.

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6378 kbps

The results are a little better than last time I think but still lower than DSL reports and Namco....

No speed test is entirely accurate as they all simulate downloading by some trickery or other. Find a good large file to download, 100MB or more and use a stopwatch to get the best idea of what's really happening. That said, notional overheads on an ATM connection are about 8%, so you're only 150-200k lower than you might be.

As near as makes no difference. IAC, speed tests will show some variation each time, you can probably just sit back and enjoy the connection now.

That looks about as good as it gets, possibly a very slight bit more, but of course that is down to many factors outside of the control of IDNet, I would settle at that.

I know this is going to sound strange but here goes.

I have two computers in the house so far i have fun all the speed tests from my laptop in my office upstairs this laptop is connected by a cable to a router so far with the lap top I have had a top speed using different speed test sites of about 7.5 or so mb.

How ever Ive just run several speed tests from the computer which is down stairs and hooked directly up to the wall and im getting consistant results of 11mb how is this possible?

im not complaining just i dont understand lol

sorry I realise now it makes no difference for some reason I thought I had a modem down stairs and then a router hooked into that in order to share the BB but I dont. I have just a router....

SO im confused Im still getting between 10-11ish megs down stairs but on my laptop im getting 6.5-7.7 ish still weired

Basically, you can't get that speed out of an ADSL connection, so the speed tester is being confused by something on that machine, possibly MTU/RWIN?

Afterthought, you're not connecting wirelessly and seeing the connection speed as 11Mbps are you?

So you've got an ethernet cable running from the router upstairs to the machine downstairs? I can only think that the MTU/RWIN setting is causing the problem and confusing the tester.

Yes I have a cable running up stairs. But I havent changed any of the settings on the machine downstairs so IDK

Me neither. Just rest assured that the tester has to be telling porkies, or BT has given you fibre to the home.
