Good point. I was also thinking about interference from a nearby router, but again it should affect everything. So that leaves something on the machines as a possibility.

Indeed, Rik. This seems quite specific to the IDNet login page (or perhaps pages that use encryption). That points to a browser issue, but then it's happening on all PCs, so I can't imagine it's that. I'm stumped.

Yes Rik they are both wireless, since I set up the security I've had no end of trouble, both Mc's accepted the WPA2-PSK encrypt without probs, but suddenly my network disappeared Internet was still OK, then the internet disappeared and the network came back, last night everthing went and the only cure was a reboot.

Have a look for a conflicting network nearby, click on the wireless network icon in the system tray and view all networks. If you're seeing a lrge number, or just one other at maximum strength, switch the router to another wireless channel.

Unfortunately not we've only just got broadband around here and only the local MOD base seems to have laptops etc and I don't think they would be willing

Try removing the second, unwanted connection from Control Panel, Network Connections, list.

There is a list in there with the option to delete it, that is after you have changed the setting as suggested by Rik.

I think you might have something, I've brought in the laptop and tried to connect to the login via the wireless connection with the same result and its sitting next to the transmitter, so I tried with a ethernet lead from laptop to router and the login loaded instantly so surely it must have something to do with the wireless, but why only this site is a mystery.

Try, temporarily, switching off security and see if you can connect then. If you can, then it's the encryption, if you can't, then it's the wireless itself.

Fair enough, it probably isn't that then if it does it still when the other connection isn't live.

OK, now we have the cause, we need a solution. What encryption method are you using, and what OS are the PCs running?

Just to give you an update, NO Security---Instant login
WEP2 PSK ----slow login page
WEP PSK------ " using TKIP encry
WEP PSK------ Yes login instant using AES encry

Getting there I think, but my laptop now wont recognise the new setup. Going to give it a rest for now and try again later. Still don't understand why it only affects login page though.
