Me too although MS insists that'll not contain much that's new.

That's fine by me. It'll just be nice to slipstream is into the XP installation and not have so many updates to download after the install. XP is the greatest, for now. It's a shame that Vista SP1 hasn't (or doesn't appear to have) done more for the OS. But that's already been discussed.

Well the only things that don't work are 3rd party applications (reg mechanic), and hardware like my Creative X-fi card, which they seem to have no intention of fixing looking at the lack of help on their own forums. It wouldn't surprise me if they are planning a new card instead.

The system addresses ram in a much more efficient way, increasing system performance slightly (which wasn't really an issue for me anyway).

As I've mentioned before, I have no problems with Vista itself, only with 3rd party software that doesn't work properly because the companies involved are shoddy and/or lazy. Reg mechanic emailed me telling me they have no intention of supporting Vista until much more people actually use it, and there is sufficient demand. In other words, they're happy to let customers move to another companies product and lose money in the long run, just for the sake of not paying programmers to update their current version, costing them money in the short term. A moronic business plan, I'm sure you'll agree.

Anyway, Vista works if you've got a semi recent system. Old hardware need not apply (or nforce chipset based motherboards apparently). That being said Nforce motherboards have always been sloppy.

Deservedly so, it seems!  I can't recall having quite so many problems like this when XP came about.

Even pre-SP1, I had few problems with XP.
