Hi Johnny

Locked in in what way? Can you not just change the username and password to log in to IDNet? If not, try doing a factory reset. (Did this come from DSL Depot or somewhere else?)

It came from a seller on ebay who gets some of his stuff from Net Lync,it came with a tiscali broadband cd which set the alarm bells ringing.

I couldn't find anywhere to change the username and password,i will have another look.

 :)it actually works!

found an option that said "enter your tiscali username and password" so i entered my idnet details, and hey presto :thumb:

His router reads; "Mode: ADSL2PlusAuto ".  Does that affect anything??  :-\

Edit: For router read Old router!

Did the auction description say it was for Tiscali only? Perhaps the seller could shed some light.

I did notice that, but as he's changing router, I thought we'll soon see. :)

It didn't say on the auction that it was anything to do with tiscali,so i probably could complain.

Anyway it is working fine now,so i will see how it goes. :)

If you've connected, I suspect you won't have any problems, Johnny.

If you've bought that router off Ebay and it's come with a Tiscali disc, you've just bought property someone shouldn't be selling, I'd have thought. The only times I've had routers/USB hubs with DSL, they want them back when you end your contract with them.

Id be surprised if Tiscali knew who they had and hadn't supplied with a router! Mind you, from everything I've seen as long as you complete the original contract duration, the freebies are yours to keep.

Well,my connection seems to be settling down, latest bt speedtest..

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 1750 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  2496 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1639 kbps

The extra download speed is brilliant,i can now download a file at over 200kbps instead of the 62kbps i was getting before making the switch to idnet, and using a filtered faceplate and proper adsl cable.

I would like to say a big thankyou to everyone for the warm welcome and excellent advice and information that has been given,it is much appreciated. :thumb:

Looks good johnny. You have one profile step up to go before it's right for your sync, and your throughput is pretty much bang on. Enjoy!
