I'm posting from my laptop at the moment as I'm having some trouble on the PC.  I keep the PC clean with avast, cc-cleaner, adaware.  The last few days I've been unable to post on any forums - when I make a post it keeps asking me to log in when I already have.  I log in, type again, same thing - asks me to log in again.  I suspect this is cookie related  ???, but can't for the life of me see what the problem is - its probably staring me in the face.  Any ideas - start with the obvious please....cos its driving me nuts  :rant2:

Sorry to hear that.

Try using a different browser. ;)

See if the same thing happens.

Good luck.

I've sometimes found that I can cure problems by clearing the temp files.

Rik

Hi Moley

It does sound like a cookie issue, so follow Noreen's advice and clear all your temporary files. Which browser do you use?

If you delete IE7, it will fall back automatically to IE6, which I prefer.

Why not use Firefox as well as IE7 / IE6?

I use FF for most applications.

Have you stopped cookies for the site? (Although, even if you have, that should only have the effect of 'not remembering' you.)

I haven't consciously changed anything, I think maybe one of my clean-ups might have changed something...

Rik

Always possible. Is the laptop running the same software? It might be worth comparing settings between the two.

 at inactive.... I'm the first to admit to not being an expert on the computer - everything I know is self learned - and still a lot I don't know... but I'm not as bad as my mother so that's progress.....

We can't all be geeks...

OK so got Mozilla Firefox back and voila - it works again - really not liking the IE7  :rant2:

Rik

It has to be something in the security settings, probably cookies, Chris. Have you tried adding the forum as a trusted site?

A result, well done Chris, just dump / don't use IE7, I hate it myself, I use IE6 when I have to. ;)
