OK, will do now  :)

Done.

Isn't replacing/re-wiring the faceplate/socket something that only a BT engineer should undertake?

Rik

Not if you have an NTE5, Matt. Changing the faceplate on that is on the 'user' side as far as BT are concerned.

I used to rewire things  :D

QuoteI think we need to place a fault report to BT for your problem, and push for an engineer to come visit you, if you happy with the setup and that you see the same issue from your test port in your main socket i will arrange this for you, my only concern is the BT callout charges, please confirm and i will do the rest.

Kind regards

It's only about £160 Jill..  :o :o

What James is saying, Jill, is that if the engineer finds no fault, or a fault on your side of the test socket, there will be a charge of some £160+.

Or what In just said. :)

Not going there yet! I've asked IDNet for loan of their router for the final check!

Rik

It would make sense, Jill, you want to eliminate every possibility.

Can you really see the BT engineer coming out and not blaming me! I've reported problems before, they said everythings fine! they're a business and want the money!  :(

Can you get this sort of problem from a router?

Rik

It's a piece of electronics, Jill, so it can go wrong and do it in strange ways. That said, my gut instinct is that it's not the router - you just need to be sure of that before involving BT.

Rik

Irrelevant in this case, Jill, as ADSL is a different issue - and you agree to the callout charge when agreeing to an engineer visit. Life was simpler, and cheaper, before Openreach.

QuoteThe test hardware will be going out today and should be with you tomorrow, it has been sent recorded next day delivery, when you receive the router can you make sure you are using all the hardware supplied in the box including the cabling.

Kind regards

Yes! they will not be able to test it over the weekend though  :-\  but I should at least see a huge difference if it's the router  :)

Rik

No, but you will, Jill. Just keep an eye on your sync speed and noise margin (ideally, use Routerstats and let James have the output).
