Your sync speed has dropped to roughly a quarter of what you were achieving. That's either a line fault or an issue with your internal phone wiring, or possibly router. If you're satisfied that the latter two are OK, then give IDNet a call and ask them to test your line.

That's great! thanks, Rik  :-* the wiring was done by BT not too long ago, just wondering if it may be the router?  Jack and Jill  ;D will have a think  ::)

Well, if you've got an NTE5 master, try the test socket behind the faceplate.

Yep, the best way of checking, Jill, is to try the test socket. That usually makes it clear whether it's BT or internal wiring.

Does the master socket have a removable portion on the faceplate, Jill. If so, remove it and you will see the test socket behind it.

Does it look like this? If so, you'll see from the picture that the front plate comes off and there's a socket behind - the test socket.

Yep it does, have a splitter? attached for phone/pc, and yest I do know how to use a screwdriver! trouble is what will be the damage?  ;D

Nothing, Jill. Just remove the faceplate - that will disconnect all your internal wiring. Plug the router into the test socket and check the speed there. If it shoot up, the problem is with the faceplate or your internal wiring. If it doesn't, then there has to be a line or equipment fault on the BT side. Contact support with the old and new speed test results and ask them to test.

    IP profile for your line is - 1000 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  1152 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
    Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 911 kbps

Your figures were the same from the test socket, Jill, so the ring wire isn't an issue.
