Steve

I have installed a bt 2wire  2 ssid on my network which seems to be working absolutely fine. The connection figures are at the end of this post. I have been through the dns poisoning routine but will this stop updates being installed? Just wondering if I will get the content controls if i remove the poisoning or is this option enabled/disabled as per original customer requirements?

That's one hell of a good line, Steve, full sync and a 14db noise margin. It should be rock solid.

I'm not sure on the effects of poisoning, as I have the SBC firmware. I'll split this post off, though, so it doesn't get lost in the mists of the sticky.

Yes RiK its good line, just a shame DL speeds are still slow during peak periods, I assume now it is due to exchange congestion,(bt profile check was 7150k)since I have just moved from tiscali and am experiencing similar DL speed patterns during peak periods

On the Dual SSID router the software will update even with the DNS poisoning in place; in fact the DNS resolve entries appear to be by-passed, if the URL is raised from within in router itself.

Even with DNS poisoning the content controls still function.

The information is often out of date, but have you tried checking the exchange status: http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/

Thanks, Yes I have its at green usually, but I see a definite pattern, evenings and weekends slow, weekdays quick and now with idnet even quicker.

It certainly shouldn't be the case, Steve. Perhaps you should give IDNet a call or drop them an email as there could be some issue that we can't see.

Rik

What Sebby said, Steve. IDNet will have more accurate information than we have and can also test your line for any problems.
