autocomplete in firefox

I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.12, and as far as I'm aware haven't changed any settings, but when I start typing in the Google search box, old terms I've searched for come up but not ones I've used recently, which is a real pain as I have to type them all out again.  Presumably something must have changed with an update, so that search terms are no longer automatically stored - anyone else come across this problem and fixed it?

I use the Google toolbar, Krysia, and that's working fine. Have you cleared out all your private data (Tools menu), that might resolve it?

If I do that, presumably I'll lose even more of my stored search terms?

I'm afraid so, but a clean out solves many problems.
