Switching to IDnet

The folks on this board were so amazingly helpful with my recent modem/router setup issues that I have decided to change my ISP to IDnet. I wrote to my current provider, who says they are a reseller of IDnet services, that they can make the switch and that IDnet will provide my service. They say the switch would happen faster this way.

My concerns are:
** would signing on with IDnet through my current ISP really be the same as signing on directly with IDnet?
** would IDnet get less money if I go through my current iSP?

Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks --

Hi linlin. You won't be disappointed moving here!

To try and answer your questions... I'm not sure about how or from whom you will get the support. I would assume that you would get the support from your current isp, as you are technically still their customer. I may well be wrong though.

for your second question, the answer is yes. You as the customer will still pay the same, but your current isp will take a cut.

Whilst it may be quicker to go for the reseller package, it only takes about 3 working days to migrate and move directly to idnet.

Personally, i would cut out the middle man as it potentially adds another layer for things to go wrong. Plus i prefer dealing directly. Obviously, though, the choice is yours!

Right -- I had a feeling they would get a cut, and I want as much as possible to be going to the good folks who provide the red carpet service.

It'll mean waiting until mid-April to move over, though, as the current ISP requires 30 days' notice and is  starting the clock not from the actual day I told them I will move but from the end of my current 30-day contract.  So 30 days become 45 days... I eagerly look forward to the move.

All the best,

LinLin

Let us know how the migration goes!  :fingers:

I thought the termination period started on the day of the MAC request, but I'm not sure if this is part of the recent legislation, or whether they can make up their own rules.   :-\

Hi LinLin

Like Lance, I'd cut out the middle man, that way you get to talk to Miriam, Andrew, James and even Simon. ;)
