Full Metal Jacket! Good Morning, Vietnam  :)

Simon

I always get Apocalypse Now, and Southern Comfort mixed up, but I think AN was the superior film.

Yes, I've seen it so many times, it's great  :)

Rik

As was GMV, which really highlighted the strangeness of the war.

<scold>Getting back on topic</scold>, I'm now connected through IDNet >cheers<.

My download speeds, which have been steadily sinking to yesterday's low of 350 Kbps(!) are now up to 1943 Kbps(!) - the fastest ever...

The line stats haven't changed, so I'm one happy bunny!

Noise Margin
24 dB
10 dB

Attenuation
40 dB
34 dB

What speed are you synching at? I suspect you'll be going faster yet for that attenuation.

Line stats wouldn't change following an ISP change. Could you post your sync rate? I'd expect quite a bit more speed than that, and I wonder whether it's sync, profile, or throughput that's the issue.

My sync rate is 7616, but the BT speed test says I'm on a 2Mb profile, so I'm hoping it will improve once the profile goes up to 8Mb - but it's taking its time...

Remind me how long it's been...

It usually takes 5 days. :)

Rik

DL migrated on March 10, Sebby, so early days still.

Panic over. Give it a couple more days. :)

dlorde

OK, my BT profile has now (finally!) been raised to 6500 kbps, and I'm getting download speeds of 5878 kbps  ;D

Too fast, I'm getting dizzy...

Rik

There, there. The sensation passes after a few hours.  :pat:  ;D

dlorde,  just to note in reading your original post it could have been mine from a few months ago,  I left just before the almost premium rate phone support.  Bad news they have got rid of email support.

Just to note that after leaving pipex I cancelled my direct debit, which was a good thing as they sent me a few letters telling me I missed payments.  A friend I know has also made two payments on his credit card to pipex after paying them to get out of the contract as his 12 months were not up.

So look after the loose end, i.e. pipex may accidentally or through incompetence try and keep taking your money.

Lance

Or maybe they do it on purpose, firstly hoping you don't notice and secondly if you do, then you have to phone them up on their expensive lines where they make more money!  ::)

It was noticeable that on the letter they sent, if I had any problems to contact them, only a phone number provided.

Sebby

I hate companies that make you call an expensive number, especially when you're a customer! >:(

Rik

Even those offering freefone numbers are often doing customers no favours (unless they also supply the geographical number) as people phoning from mobiles will end up paying a premium.

That's true, Rik. These days, geographical numbers tend to be the best for everyone really, given that they're usually free from mobiles and landlines.
