How was it matey ? I am quite the BF2 fan but have read mixed reviews on it"s implementation. But I did like the idea of the Titan mode - reminds me of my yoof playing paintball !!

well on my pc the graphics cant really shine lol...many people say its just a large skin over of bf2, which ive only ever borrowed off a mate. I thought it was great fun, but i need to learn the weapons / units first as i couldnt get the right vehicle to launch in my pod onto the enemy titan. I must say i quite enjoyed the sci fi gameplay as it wasnt lasers but the weaponry wasnt exactly conventional either. All i can say is, download the demo (i left it overnight, took about an hour) and try it - some like it, same hate it, but i think ill be buying over bf2

Why do you reckon this is?

I sync' at 8128 - get just under 6MB from speed-tests - can download the Zen test files in the 500's, BUT ........

No matter what time of day/night I try to d/l this demo (I tried first at 2am), I get no more than 25/30KB/s with an estimated d/l time of between 9/11 hours!!

I even tried two or three different mirrors!

Sounds like their download servers are either throttled or contended. Do you get good throughput on other downloads/bandwidth test sites ?

I just tried a google again and got;

It looks good ....... so tried a straight demo D/L ... same old 30KB/s, give or take 1 or 2.

Listed above the demo they offer a D/Load Manager 'specially for BF 2142.
So I tried it! ........ WOW d/l speed went up to the low 200's, but still too slow, so I will try it again later after the peak hours.

Get GetRight !

Now supports the BitTorrent protocol and multi segment downloads. I've just pulled BF2142 down in < 5hrs on it...very very clever !

Yeah! It's an idea Scotty. But I thought I did the right thing by giving it a ritual burning when I got Broadband!! I dunno that I want the D/L that much, Getright used to carry a lot of spyware.
Let's face it, a 1GB download SHOULD be chicken-feed to a connection showing a speed of nearly 6MB!
I don't know about you, but all this unnecessary b******ng about to do the smallest thing, really makes me wonder why I bother!!

I know what you mean mate...I'm on a 0.5M line and didn't fancy a 16hr download but GetRight's now free of nonsense (so they say) and nothing I managed to find online reports their latest version as carrying anything nefarious !

I actually nearly installed eMule again to get it off that...still will prolly kill GR as it IS an eval version !

However getting back OT...played last night for a bit and I think this is DEFINITELY a vehicle-based game now...BF1942 - squad based and co-operative play was awesome...BFV still good but vehicles and weaponry taking over...BF2 very dependant on where you spawned and vehicles available. 2142 - unless you are playing with an experienced mixed-mode clan of infantry forget it ! This is about AtAt's, APV's new Hover tanks and VToL air vehicles...

First take on it...Love the idea of the titan mode but taking the missile silos just turns into a defend the bases, sneak another in and hold, repeat until shields drop then swarm the Titan...hmmm. Now where have a I seen that before ...Oh yeah ticket mode in BF1942, BFV, BF2....yawn.
Hate those floaty tanks...love the AtAt's...love the APC's and jump pods. More soon...need my new machine back to get the best from the game though !
