I've got a slight issue with content control on my 2700HGV Dual SSID.

I've just bought s SDIO WiFi Card for my PDA, have got it to connect to the 2700HGV but when I try to access external sites I get the restriction page.

In content control I have set the PDA as unrestricted, yet I still get the page.

Currently I have set the PDA with a static IP address (using DHCP is the same), wifi access is working as I can get to my local web server.

Rebooted the 2700 and still the same !!

Content control logs shows:

Any ideas ??

Rik

No idea, sorry, I don't use content control.

EvilPC

How do you disable content control ??

Rik

IIRC it's only available on the dual-SSID version, and as I have a single-SSID model, I don't have the setting, sorry. Someone with the dual-SSID will be along shortly.

There are 2 versions of BT provisioning on the Dual SSID, only one of them has content control.

In your browser type HOME and on the opening page you should have a Content Control Panel, open this to disable Content Control.

The other version only shows Firewall and Setup Wizard panels and Content Controls are not available.

EvilPC

Hi
On the routers home page (system icon) I have links to firewall & Parental control.

Parental Controls
• View parental controls
• View log

Internet Access Control:  Active

Content Screening:  Active

Going into content screening I have no option to disable it !

kinmel

Ok,after i have spoken with someone else, it appears that some routers need to have the firmware reset to disable the content screening after changes to the wireless network

Simply follow the instructions in this link and it should restart with content control disabled.

I can confirm my content control options disappeared after a restore to factory settings, I think you can restore it again by using the original keycode and allowing it to connect.

I wonder why there are so many variations in the BT provisioning on this router ?

Strangely, the router switches between the various versions after a factory reset.

Don't fancy resetting it completely.
I'd have to configure all my firewall rules etc.

I'll email 2wire and see what they say ad report back.

If a reset is the only way to go, then Ill do it at weekend !!

Thanks

Steve

It seems possible that the use of supplied keycode and the subsequent connection to BT determine which options are activated. I have also a link to change the wireless output on the 2 ssid with the "hidden" power button. The default is 1, I believe a change to 4 is still legal

You can change this last value if you wish. I used 2 which seem to increase the power sufficiently for my needs
You can verify the change at;

It is just weird, yours is the first Dual SSID I have heard of which has allows power output to be changed, going to the link you gave on my router merely allows me to change the wireless channnel

I got this from The scream

Unlocked Firmware For Bt Business Hub 2700hgv **Upgrade at your own risk** post #418

I believe some of the 2700 hgv have a power button? I dont

When I use these links and look at the report 1 =25 mw 4 =100mw , However I have no way of confirming a power increase but it would appear so.

They are talking about the Single SSID version of the router

Thanks kinmel you may well be correct! However my router log quite clearly documented a change in power setting following this command and I have a 2 ssid with the latest firmware update. As you say no two seem to be alike.

I managed to fix this by deleting the devices from my local network.

I then set the content screening default to 'no restrictions' and got each device to reconnect.

PDA working fine now !!

Rik

Interesting technique, thanks for posting that. :)
