I'd recommend doing as Rik says. If you can access the router now, factory reset it and you should be able to set it up as normal. Hopefully we'll have you online today!  ;)
He was at the internet cafe Sebby so how could he log into his router?  ??? he called home to check how it was plugged in but in fact his modem was.....
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

I didn't mean at that particular moment, Gary. I got the impression that he is now able to login to the Netgear.

It is a little confusing, but hopefully we'll get it up and running very soon. :)

How confusing!!! His user name and password must be correct as he can log on to his accounts section at the cafe. He has tried two different methods of connection: One via Ethernet connected router, but is unable to access router setup.Second via usb modem. Could this not point to an OS problem i.e TCP/IP, winsock settings? Should he not risk a repair as suggested earlier as he has little else to loose?

It's just possible that there's an error with the password on the radius server, Steve, but like you, I think it's more likely to be an issue with the networking setup locally, given the problems yesterday in accessing the router.

The problem is, that with David only able to get online from a 'net cafe, it's very difficult for us to work through his machine with him. :(

@David

You might want to try setting up a dial-up connection to IDNet's backup service, 0845 602 1131. If you still can't access, then we know it's not the router or the radius server.

would a system restore help?

It might, Philip, it depends what points are available and what, if anything, has happened to the machine. Worth a try though. There are days when you want to be able to look through the monitor and see the remote machine... :(
