Just under 1 week on and I'm loving this phone. Unfortunately the speaker is faulty (in fact it was out of the box, and this is a 2008 week 7 build, so it's a little worrying). Luckily Play.com were fantastic and are collecting it and will issue a refund. So I don't have any "downtime" I just ordered a new one (incidentally, the price has now been reduced to £249.99, and you can get a further £10.00 by going through Quidco).

Anyhow, the keyboard is taking some getting used to, but I am getting quicker, and I can imagine it to be rather good. The wireless connectivity is great, too.

So far, so good.  :thumb:

Glad you like it Seb.  SE rules!

SE does rule, even if their phones do have far too many issues for the first few months of release. Thankfully the P1i has been around a while now, and the build quality is superb.

Life's just not been the same since everything had 'Made in China' stamped on it. :(

I really wish they would hurry up with the X1, as that is the only SE phone which interests me! I'm more of a Nokia person myself!

Me too, Lance!  I dread to think of the price, though.   :o

Indeed. My view is that China is very capable of making high quality products, but it's the manufacturers that force quality down to save money. It's only after a few months of the product being released that the manufacturer realises that warranty work is costing them a lot and things improve!

It's funny, because I love SE, but I look at the X1 and I think style over functionality, and devices like that don't tend to appeal to me. But then I do love the iPhone...  :P

Not to mention high-quality fakes. :( The real issue with Chinese manufacture is what you might call the China Syndrome, it's the relentless cutting of costs by the brands in an attempt to make bigger profits. R&D and, particularly, QC are too expensive, so let the customers do the testing. It drives me nuts...

Me too, Rik, and yet we have no choice because there's very little that doesn't come from there!

Rik

Tell me about it. Almost anything 'techie' will have some Chinese element, often a very large one.

I read about that phone a while ago, Rich, and it does seem very nice. You might want to check out the Esato.com forums; there's some big discussions about it going on there. :)

Ooh, I like that 902, but is it me, or does it have a smallish screen?

There both 240*320 according to the info towards the bottom of the link above but I can see what you mean.

Edit The C702 has 2.2inch screen while the C902 has only a 2inch screen.

One of the things I like about the specs of the X1 is the VGA screen :)

I like the K850, but sometimes I could throw it because of that keypad.  Today, I wrote a whole post for here, then touched the Back button by mistake, and lost the lot!

That must be pretty annoying!

Simon

You're telling me!   By the time I've tapped it all out again, Rik's got another 20 posts in!   ;D

I can text quite fast, but it's still damned annoying, especially when the traffic lights change when I'm half way through it!
