Critical hole in an active X part of realplayer 11, no patch as yet. Pity really its feature to download flash videos from youtube etc is actually quite good for bloatware >:D

I only ever use RP for BBC Radio, and have it nicely trained not to bother me otherwise.  ;)

same here I have every feature unchecked for privacy and drive by installations of things it needs, but having a one click download for Flash video was fun to play with ;D

I have never cared for RealPlayer with what I have heard are some of its "background processes" so I use Real Alternative available here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm
Never had a problem with it.

Les.

May well have a punt on that Les - thanks  :thumb:

I haven't used real player for about 10 years now. There are a few alternatives for it, all of which do a nice job :)

because it uses the same codecs it has the same vulnerabilities as realplayer, you still have to update it sadly. I have had issue with the BBC website and real alternative in the past though, maybe they are fixed now but the play again feature for music was one

Well as there has been a little flurry of interest in Real Alternative are you folks aware that there is one for Quicktime too?  :)

The utility that I like best at the moment in this category is VideoLAN Media Player.  :thumb:

Among many other things it Plays Flash Video files for those of you that extract them from Microsoft's "Super Hidden" file directories. You know the subdirectories of good old Content.IE5 that no longer show unless you know how to view them!

VLC is a brilliant little thing Les - been using it for quite a while now

Yeah I have this too but unfortunately dont use it enough to comment on it. I got it to try because I saw that you could use a video and set it as a wallpaper, so you could have, say a music vid as your wallpaper.   cant remember how to do it now though :D :D
