19/10/2006    BT have set a target date of Q2 2011 for the switch to 21CN for the Rowlands Gill exchange

im starting to feel sad and loney though ill have my 8mb to keep me comapany :flamethrower:

Rik

Look at it like this, Colin. BT are testing it on lost of other people before they get to you. At least the bugs should be ironed out.

So, who are all these lost peeps?

Rik

Well, if you notice any forum regulars going missing, BT have probably just updated their exchanges. :)

05/03/2008  Be Unlimited has set an enablement date of 31/03/2008 for the Blaydon exchange
05/06/2007  BT Wholesale (SDSL) has enabled the Blaydon exchange for their service
01/02/2007  Be Unlimited is no longer reporting an enablement date for the Blaydon exchange
19/10/2006  BT have set a target date of Q2 2011 for the switch to 21CN for the Blaydon exchange

I'll probably be on a different exchange soon, but still :P
IDNet Customer (ex-partner's name): 6th January 2006 - 23rd March 2007

Oh s**t, it's back to 3/2011 again.

Colin Burns

or completly forget that the exchange exists

Just checked mine Q3 2008... Which is nice.

What does the upgrade involve, is it just the equipment in the exchange or are there any line upgrades?

My line has an attenuation of 46db and drops out with interference every few days even though I'm only 2k from the exchange, I've tried to have it fixed on several occasions but it never happens when the BT engineer arrives so I've learnt to live with it.

Just wondering if there is a small possibility that it may be fixed inline with the 21CN rollout?

Rik

Very little, I'm afraid. 21CN is more to do with the exchange and backhaul, it changes little in the local loop, if anything.

Oh well. :'(

I've tried everything from new filters, different routers, re-wired phone system, 3 BT call outs (2 via IDNet) and still it just goes haywire every now and then, my latest theory is my phone line is tapped!!

Rik

It may be tapped, in the sense that there is a leaky joint on the line. I would have hoped, though, that the engineers would have picked that up. Is there a pattern to the problem, eg time of day, type of weather?

No it seems completely random, it's like some sort of static storm on my phone line? I can hear noise and at the same time my SNR will drop, then out of the blue it will clear and work fine again. (I've had advice from your good self on this mater before  :thumb:)

I wonder if there's some electrostatic interference being generated along the line somewhere between me and the exchange, an underground pump or something??

Anyway whatever it is I've done everything I can at my end so unless BT decide to replace the aging copper lines I'm stuck with it unless I move.
