2700 received today

This is what I've received today (brand new and unopened box).
I'm thoroughly confused as to which version I have (single or double) and throw myself on the mercy of fellow owners on the sorting out/setting up etc. in the form of a complete idiots guide.
If I have to poison it or sommat like that I will give it one of my missus' scones to devour

jftr, I have not even plugged it in yet for fear of blowing it sky high!!

That looks to me like a single SSID model, but I am sure someone will be along to correct me shortly.

If you have BT firmware you need to poison it, if you have SBC, you don't. Take a look here.

If you have a spare machine or a dual-NIC machine, plug it in to that but not the phone line and then you can explore without disturbing your signal.

You have found an unused antique !

It was manufactured in December 2006 and is therefore a single ssid model.

I've got the single SSID and it's been fine for me, with the exception of the 12-day re-boot which seems to afflict SBC firmware.

There is no real differences that I can find between the single and dual SSID versions other than the newer dual version supports WPA2. Stability wise, I rate them both the same

I'm 'fairly' happy to stick with it tho. I have asked the seller to consider exchanging for a dual.
Not too happy to start installing things, not that I'd even know where to start at the present mo.
I find the forum re.2700 to be a little on the confusing side to say the least.
Rik, could you elucidate a little .... eg: can I plug this beasty in??
If so, what next??

I'd start by plugging it into the computer, but not the phone line. See what firmware is installed, you then know if you need to poison or not.

After that, do a factory reset to clean its memory, then connect it to the phone line and let it auto-detect the connection. Once that's established, two green LEDs at the bottom, or right, login to:

http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=B05&THISPAGE=B02&NEXTPAGE=B05

and enter your IDNet login details.

With that firmware, all you need to do is enter the DNS poisioning info as follows:

Easy with the Antique !! I got one exactly the same!!!

I have the SBC software and have 4.25.19

Its the dogs danglies and have not suffered with any 12 day reboot and have a record 76 days uptime on it.

It's very naughty listing old products as new, simply because they have been unused. I would certainly be tempted to reflect that in the seller's feedback.

To be fair it was referred to as boxed, complete etc. I will however leave it running for 7 days prior to feedback just in case.

Still toddling along at a miserable 7000 or so. Will try it in a few hours to see if I can get the mythical 7150. Bought it really for the range, my old netgear V2 had real probs, 2 concrete walls before I hit the garden .... no chance!!!!

Best time to reboot will be in the morning when you get up. It must be a real struggle for you coping with only 7000!

Chappy down the road has achieved 7086 but he's only 50 mtrs from the exchange. I'm nearly 100 mtrs I'm afraid.
