Baz

just went to use Foxit Reader and got an update window about, well an available update :D, something about jpeg files. got the update, installed ok, then when I tried to view the file I needed foxit just froze.

Tried a reboot, uninstalled and went back to an earlier version but got the same result when viewing the file.

Any ideas?

foxit version 2.2 build 2129

sorry forgot to mention also did a system restore to before update

Rik

Sorry, Baz, I've never used it. My instinct would be to try a system restore to before the update as a first step.

sorry Rik.........missed your post before editing mine :D :D :D

Rik

Does it open any PDFs, Baz? I just wonder whether you could have a bad file there.

yes other files open ok Rik.  when I try this one it opens but the image is white text on black background then it freezes. get the egg timer icon and if I click in the left hand pane of Foxit, its a index type pane, I get the 'not responding' window with the end now or cancel buttons

Sebby

I'd say uninstall it, reboot, then make sure the foxit directory has been removed from Program Files. Then reinstall and hopefully you'll have more luck. :)

Rik

Is the file publicly available, Baz? If so, I'll take a look at it...

I was a big fan of Foxit - until I started getting far too many "Foxit Reader has encountered a problem.....blah blah blah" windows, and so dumped it for the (also freely available) PDF-xChange viewer - http://www.pdfxviewer.com/ which, up to now, has proved solid as a rock.

Rik

I think the problem was with the PDF rather than Foxit, In, though Reader could manage the file...
