Just wondering, is it me, or has the site gone down a couple of times recently?

Rik

It has, Malc, and email is acting up too. :(

It's not just you Malc  :(

Sometimes when I press post, nothing happens and I have to start a new tab.

BTW I ditched firefox, unfortunately, on a few of my BT sites where I have to log in, they won't load  >:(

So who locked the door?   :rant2:   >:D

We are indeed. A switch failed at Telecity, unfortunately, it was in front of us, the IDNet site, one of the authentication servers and the mail server (Trevor). I'm just going to go an test the latter...

I don't like the sound of Trevor  >:D

Trevor's OK, it wasn't his fault, nor Samson's. Even Clunker was OK, rather it was all down to a pesky switch. Guess where the first signs were picked up? Right, here in the forum - we now double as an early warning device! :)

I thought Trevor had been given a good seeing to a while back?

Hurrah! for us indeed  ;D

Cookiemonster

Well i'm glad it's sorted! But all that down time gave me time to enjoy my chinese!! :hungry: :choc: :hehe:

Rik

Useful tip from Simon (D). One of the DNS servers was behind the switch. Windows insists on using the pair alternately, even if one isn't replying, which made for some serious slowness when browsing. Entering the working DNS into Windows (NOT the router) will fix that. I had switched to OpenDNS, as most people wouldn't know which DNS wasn't working.

He had, Philip, and was an innocent bystander, but off from us by an errant switch. :)
