Exchange upgrade?

Hi I'm still experiencing slowish speeds 1.3 at present so I checked the status at my local exchange and the notice states good news etc my line will support between 6 to 8 and new product available from 31/3/08

What does this mean and will it have any effect on me.?
Tried not to post this but I'm no better off for this piece of information

Hopefully it will mean an increase in your line speed, David, but I'm sure someone more qualified than me will be able to give you a proper answer.

its to do with the limits I'm sure up to a few weeks ago the line could only go up to 4 max I cant think of what product could refer to

Just had another read and it states Max DSL products will be available from 31/03 and it gives 6Mbps to 8Mbps

Just carried out another speed test on namesco and 1114 down 369 up which isn't exactly scorching

And BE is enabled on your exchange so at the moment you can receive ADSL2+ speeds via LLU or wait till August when BT roll out there 21CN and you'll get ADSL2+ without LLU.

I'm not exactly sure what the new product means, David. The speed quoted on the checker is actually the estimated sync rate. I don't believe they'd ever quote actual throughput, so I don't think it's hinting that there are upgrades taking place. It seems to me that there is something going on at your exchange that's affecting your throughput, but I'd sit tight as a few users here have seen their speeds return to normal recently.

Thanks for this,its a bit double dutch to me to be honest I don't even know what a roll out is.I have been going through Riks board and learning from these also other websites to get a bit more understanding of all of this.

Well basically your on ADSL Max at the moment which gives you speeds up to 8Mbps...However your exchange is enabled via LLU(Local Loop Unbundled) not sure of the In's and outs of it but you can potential get speeds up to 24Mbps and you don't have to worry about BT's IP Profile system ( i think)...check Here. However in August your exchange becomes ADSL2+ enabled via BT and therefor you should be able to get a bigger list of isp's offering this service. I'm by no way telling you to leave IDNet, but if you want faster speeds then the options are there for you.
