Dual SSID 2700HGV Wireless Issue

Hi

I've got a Dual SSID 2700HGV which works well on my line, but I seem to have an intermittent issue with Internet access via the wireless.

I have disabled the Fuzion Wireless... The main wireless has it's ssid hidden and mac filtering is enabled.

The wireless works well, but sometimes I get no internet access via it.
When this happens I can ping other ip addresses on my network, but not the router - I get request timed out.

After a minute or so everything works again, full Internet access and I can ping the router.

I have tried a different channel but that has not helped.

Any ideas ?

You could try changing the channel initially; 1, 6 and 11 are the best ones to try first.

I had a issue with a laptop that would lose wireless signal from time to time, changing channel worked for a bit and then the same problem would happen.
I then assigned a static IP address for the laptop, in the 2700 configuration panel and the problem seems to be resolved (for quite a while now).

I thought they were different frequencies for each channel how can they overlap?

The laptop has a static IP address and has since day one !!

I've changed the Channel to 1 and will see how things go.

no worries the "spare" 2700 has now been flashed with "hacked" firmware and i am presently transmitting at level 10 on ch1.

one of my neighbours keeps changing has channel to match mine (and causes me grief) so hopefully this will teach him a lesson.

surprising how far one of these transmits.

Changing the channel has made no difference for me.
Wireless laptop still loses connection.

Can ping other PC's, but not router ??

After a couple of minutes I can ping the router and the connection to the Internet works again !!

No idea why .

It sounds like it might be a faulty router. Do you have an alternative you can try?

Try this, Double-click the windows-wireless icon, select the "change order" button, DELETE_ your home network, click ok, turn wireless card off, then on.

Reconnect the usual way.

Some guys at work here have been having issues with their connection, showing as disconnected but could still access the internet, the above is what resolved it. It may be worth a try.

I wonder whether "hiding SSID" is possibly a cause of the problem?

Good point, Steve. I know some people like to do it but I see no point, a knowledgeable hacker doesn't need SSID broadcast, and it just makes life harder for the legitimate user.
