2700 rubbish speed!!!

Well i just took delivery of a 2700, Think i got the best ever deal only had to pay for postage (thanks sebby

) albeit no psu but no problem there as i have a spare.

Hooked it up and WHAT less than 1mb (on the speedtesting sites (all of them)) and it took 4-5 poweron/offs to get it to connect.

SO put thinking cap on and compared the settings between each 2700.

there is a setting under broadband link configure DSL Line Selection:.

choices are inner outer and auto. Now mine uses inner pair but was set to auto.

set to inner and hey presto connected first time upon reboot and then speeds were back.

set it back to auto and it took 2 power offs to connect and speed was again cr*p.

also noticed that the bitloading image (the wavy graph under detailed diagnostics) also looked cr*p when auto was selected.

I did not want to test any further or BT might slow me down thinking there was a fault with all these re/dissconnections.

Now I really cant see the above setting change should make all this differance, perhaps someone else can confirm?

Standard sbc firmware 4.25.19.

Some (the hacked version) doesnot seem to have the option.

you running a hacked version? (wireless power goes to 10)

yeh luckily i have an unhacked 1800 that i could compare to.

(same as 2700 as far as i can tell)

It could be the router, Dean... I had a feeling something wasn't right, but I thought you just wanted to dismantle it?

The only thing I can suggest is to try reflashing the firmware with the recovery tool.

Just tried it again.

Same results there's obviously something "quirky" with the auto setting.

OH well time to start "playing"

yes i did want it for flashing etc, didnt realize its a non voip one so if i get this one flashed up i may "use it" and play with my voip one.

Plus I can't find any option to change pairs, only places where it tells me which it is using!

On that URL, it only tells me what I'm on, and doesn't give any options to change

I'm on BT v5 firmware.

Yes it seems to only be on unhacked firmware.

but i do remember someone saying how rubbish there 2700 was for speed, maybe i found the answer if your using unhacked firmware?
