Used this to get the DVD onto the hard drive. -

Then use this to convert it for the PSP -

When you run the prog set the language to English and the file type to "MP4 for PSP (direct rename)"
drag the file to convert in to the space where the text appears and it should start.

That Acala looks quite a weapon. Nice find. ;)

I tend to just deal in mp4 (even on my moby) but I'll give this a try.

Right now I'm using PSP Media Manager 1 for upping. But I used to use WinAVI MP4 Converter as it's good for the moby too.

I like Acala as it gives you 5 options for the video bitrate.

I have good experience in this field of work lol

http://www.pspvideo9.com/ this has to be the best encoder ive found made especially for psp (OPS2 magazine gave it 10/10)

For ripping my dvds I use dvd decryptor but I bet they all do the same - dvd decryptor allows you to choose all the scenes you want to rip allowing you to cut down on extras, foreign languages and cr*p filling up ur hdd  :P

I have just given it a try and its good but can you tell me in the "quality profile" do you choose AVC/ or SP/ ?

I think i used SP/320x240/29.97fps/1500kps stereo/128kbps

I works fine on the pc , i haven't tried it on the PSP is this the right "profile" to use?

I just kept it at default  -  If you have a look around, you'll find settings such as Anime, movie (with ranging lengths for less/more compression) etc.

Seems to always give me a good picture although I woulnd't compress too much, you'll lose sync on the audio.  I wouldnt change the setting from default unless the files were coming out too big (no worries for 1gb users  :P)

Hi,
I've got a question slightly related to this topic...... I've got an AVI I recorded with my Fuji camera, It's about 56Mb. Is there a way I can make it smaller as it'll take a long time for someone to download it from my server?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

You could simply zip/rar it which will make it slightly smaller or you could import it into Windows Movie Maker (hiding in your program shortcuts list) then save it in a smaller format which (depending on the original format ie. 640x480 and bit rate) will make it way smaller, then you could zip it again after that too. Also if you use WMM you might as well edit out any unnecessary parts and add effects and titles just to finalise it. HTH

Or put it on your pc
Compress and encode with pspvideo9

Hi,
Thanks for the video tip, down from 56Mb to 4.7! 8)
Karma +1 for you.
First time ever Bills software has been useful, although it did freeze up on the first attempt  ::)

That's an impressive size reduction. I'm glad it worked out for you. Cheers.

Just found DVDFabPlatinum. It will copy DVD to PSP from within application.
