Another cry for help,or a challenge for you.Just managed to get Microsoft's Midtown Madness game for the children, the old one got damaged.got this new one and it installed ok but when press the play icon message reads validating etc, then nothing. Now this machine used to play the game as this is a replacement. The game itself plays on mine (just tested it)but I don't want my machine being hogged. The machine in question plays other game ie Harry Potter etc,any ideas?

If this isn't  solved I will not be able to sit here and watch you all......... :fingers:

Perhaps there was some residue of the old game left, David? Would be worth removing it from Control Panel > Add/Remove, then reinstalling.

Sorry, as a non-gamer that was my best shot, David. Possibly you are going to have to go down the route of a registry cleaner. :(

I know very little about gaming, but I'd suggest updating DirectX and graphics drivers.

Have a look in Device Manager. Click Start, right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Then click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager. Expand Display adaptors and post what you've got there. :)

Or use this little program to give you exact details....GPU-Z

If you do decide to run the program, in the Driver Version colum tells you what drivers you are using if you could post what it says then we can establish if there out of date. :thumb:
