ftp settings

I've found a program but don't know how to set it up. How do I fill this in?

If you access your account detail via IDNet main page in there it should give you your ftp details Noreen. For example..

ftp.idnet.com

username

Password.

Which should be in your web space section.

Is this for your IDNet login, Noreen?

If so, it will be the username and password shown on the web space setup page in your accounts page at IDNet.

Right, I've managed to get connected to my Space on IDNet however there's a problem. I can see the various images that I've put there but I can't view them. If I right click on them I get an option to "view/edit" but if I click on that all I get is text not the image.

FTP is about file transfer, Noreen. If you want to edit, normally you do it (well I do anyway ) on your machine, then upload the file to your space.

To my knowledge you can't view them via ftp. You would need to directly link them via a web page...eg

http://stevenraffan.www.idnet.com/pictures/fox.gif

That is one from mine. I use it to host pictures then i can link them in forum posts etc

As is obvious I'm a real noobie with all this, with my previous GoFTP program I just right clicked on the item and could then view it (not to edit) and I assumed that that was the normal thing.

In my experience, which is quite limited, that's unusual Noreen. Think of your webspace as being a remote hard drive. You can look at what files you have on it, you can delete them and you can copy new files to it. To view the files, though, you look at your local copy.

I suspect that what GoFTP was doing was just downloading the file and then displaying it.
