Hi.

At work we use VNC to connect from home. This is fine for us as i do all the network stuff/setup etc.

But we want to offer this to our clients now, We have loads phoning up about email problems etc (they dont set outlook up correctly) and to be honest, it gets annoying and stressful trying to talk them through the settings on the phone and you just feel like telling them to F'off in the end lol.

Is there any free apps out there that lets you do this without the client having to do any setup? eg, download a exe from our site, enter a code in and we connect to them? something like BT and 1and1 does with tech support.

We will pay if theres no free ones.

Can you provide some more info on this.

What exactly are you trying to provide to your clients?

Are you trying to allow them remote access into your network?
Are you trying to gain access to their systems via remote access.
What specifically are they/you trying to access and do?

As much info as possible here would help.

Log me in is something we also use but not with clients, as its something like $200 for a single user.

What we want to be able to do is..

Client phones up because theres a problem or there computer is showing something wrong with a site that we cant see our side.
We tell the client to download a file (.exe) from our site.
They then run this file. We give them a code or something. This then lets us connect.
We then have access to there computer/screen so we can see the fault and correct it.

So remote access without any installing/setup/signups.

Thanks for clarifying things, it's as i thought and a bugger at that, for free at least.

As far as I'm aware there are no free apps that do what you are after (well). You can do some googling for pay ones, try searching for webex alternatives, or logmein free alternatives, however there seems to be a catch with all of them, (i was looking into this last year). They offer either trials or some kind of restrictions.

There are only two ways i can think of doing this, and the first drove me mad and you will more than likely have user issues.

install netcat and create a reverse shell to the natted ip of the remote box you want to connect from. (it will need to be natted to the ip of the remote lan box, not lan ip range) the end user will still need to install vnc, something like ultravnc would do the job for this, to make life easier. However you may have problems with netcat being detected as a virus/malware on remote systems, due to it being what they view as a dangerous tcp/ip tool. You would really need to play around with this option....

The only other way i can think of doing this is by using remote assistance, you may have to talk them through turning this on, and of course you will be limited to winxp/vista systems. Aside from the above I can't think of anything else you can use for free, if you are willing to pay a bit of cash, as above just do some googling for webex alternatives etc.
