It looks like you have 2 x 256MB of RAM installed, David. Making that 2 x 512MB would be a significant improvement. 2 x 1GB would be even better. You're probably looking at around £26 for the former, £48 for the latter.

Me I would be looking here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-x-512MB-PC2700-DDR-333MHz-Unbuffered-184-Pin-DIMM-1Gb_W0QQitemZ330230394244QQihZ014QQcategoryZ172QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

but check the pins (184) and frequency ie the 333 MHz are right for your machine

Les.

Ok so Im only just about to order  :-X I think I am right but thought I would double check.I have had the back of this thing and looked where the ram slots are and can see I have 2 spare slots now I think I should be ordering 2 SIMM have I got it correct ?

I want to take out one of the existing SIMM to get the number off it.can I do any harm ?I will ensure I am aware of static so will be careful.

Have I got it all right.......... :fingers:

No need to take it apart David, using Internet Explorer, go to Crucial and run a memory scan, it should tell you exactly what you need and what the maximum is.

You should be able to run a system scan at Crucial without your computer being listed, it should advise the correct memory down the page David. ;)

It's very simple, David, I promise. ;)

You'll see the existing RAM, and some empty slots next to them. The new RAM simply clicks in, and it only fits in one way. :)

Rik

Unless you use a hammer, that is...  >:D ;D :out:

Good news David, last time that I ordered from Crucial, the memory arrived extremely quickly.

Even I can fit memory, so I am sure that you can.. ;)

If you need a video of how it's done, let me know, I will post a link.
