Dual core system for £53

OK - maybe an exaggeration on the truth, but having replaced the A64 X2 4200 in my main PC a couple of weeks ago with the x2 6400, I was a bit miffed that I was sat here using an old XP2400+ on PC2 with this (still very serviceable) processor in a box doing nothing.

So today, I've picked up an AM2 MB, 1Gig PC 6400 RAM and a new PSU (the old one wouldn't support an AM2 MB) for the grand price of £53 - all new.

Got it home, threw the manuals away and set about hooking it all up (I had a spare ATI X700 gfx card in the cupboard, just for good measure).

one hour later, and Windows is happily installing

What surprised me was that the existing Windows install actually booted without complaining, despite this MB having a completely different chipset than the old one (Old was NV2, New is Sis). Nevertheless, I'm not taking chances with Windows

Finally, I may be able to get that Mandriva distro working on PC2 (since it refuses to install point blank on my main PC).

I'm one happy bunny for not a lot of money
