El Reg are now reporting that the reboot issue could be that the Windows Update version of SP3 is missing some updates, whereas if you use the full ~300MB file, it works fine. Just another reason to slipstream, I say. :P

Steve

Unfortunately it has been reported that slipstreaming SP3 has failed to solve the problem with the A8N32sli board, I myself have not tried it as I need some guarantee of success after a download of that size :)

Its fairly glum reading, however it does refer to TI v11, but also contains the increasingly frequent comments about the quality of software now being produced by this company. Shame they managed to fix something that wasn't broken. I have not tried TI v10 on SP3 as I am unable to install it on a machine with a A8N32 SLI  motherboard. Well done to MS as well.

I stuck at TI10, Steve, because they seemed to be losing the plot a bit. If it carries on like this, I'll even be thinking about buying Ghost!  :eek4:

I am embarrassed to admit that a recent purchase for my new machine running vista was "save and restore" I needed something that worked from scratch with the IP35 chipset. Acronis eventually supplied me with an IP35 compatible recovery disc, but goodness knows why this is not generally available as an update?  :)

Its  similar to the product Ghost 14, probably now old hat,but at least it restores with the IP35 chipset. TI 10 seems ok with vista on the laptop.

Thanks, Steve, it's nice to know there's an alternative, because Acronis do seem to have lost sight of the ball lately. :(

It'll be interesting to see what TI 12 is like, if it ever comes out.

I'm certainly going to be sitting back while others test it. :)

Talking about Imaging and Recovery software has anyone ever come across or used this: -

Haven't come across it, Ray, and didn't find much in the way of reviews. My big problem is whether to use a London accent for the company name, FarstOne, or go with their capitalisation, FarStone. ;)

No I've not come across it before, this seems to be an area of software with no outstanding products now, since Norton killed off Powerquest Drive Image :( I always found that to work well.   :)

It does make you feel the need to double-check the Acronis image first, doesn't it. :(

They are still getting it wrong, the issue regarding an OEM xp image is only one of the reasons for multiple reboots following installation of SP3. Such as owners of a A8n32 SLI MB apparently it will load with SP3 if a USB drive is connected and you dance around the PC three times chanting to "Bill Gates".
