The article recommends that you don't do it that way.....but they would say that Sebby to cover themselves, odd how it affects the same software issue on both Vista SP1 and XP SP3

Well, it's identical to what will be released on the Download Center over the coming days/weeks, so I see no reason not to if you want to install it.

Its because its the whole version not just the one that your pc needs, the update version is much smaller, for me Vista SP1 was 66mb, probably MS trying to cut down on server costs

Well yes, you're right that the "network install" includes everything, whereas the update version updates the necessary components, but it makes absolutely no difference to the end result either way.

The network install is the way I do it because it saves doing the Windows Update on several computers, and it allows me to slipstream.

Its a good way Sebby if I need to install again from scratch I would do the same, from the article it looks like Vista SP1 is being left on as a optional download where as XP is pulled completely, typical MS can't get a service pack to work with their own software

As a beta-tester, I can understand how things get through, and the problems only show when a package hits the streets. In this case, though, MS seem to have picked it up themselves, which suggests that they didn't chose their beta testers well.

Must admit, I do find it amusing that the incompatibility is with their own software. Find it hard to believe that when developing something, it isn't developed with their own software in mind from the start

I meant it as MS don't do much testing themselves, they rely on beta testers, which won't always highlight every issue.

I agree, Sebby, but MS should have chosen their beta testers to get a full range of compatibility tests done. It sounds like their project management is flawed.
