Does the 2700 HGV Dual SSID support VoIP services ??

I seem to remember something about this support being built in.. but can't find anything.

I do have a menu option for voice network, but no mention of SIP or VoIP...

Thanks

Rik

It should do, but you will need to subscribe to a service, obviously. I've got a single SSID and can set up VOIP on it.

Thanks Rik.

That takes me to a page to setup the phone lines, but no options for the SIP Service provider...

I've attached an image of what I get.. Am I missing something ??

Shows how to set the SIP provider.

I'll try this later, then I need someone to call  :P

Your first screen is the one I'd got too. Well done for finding the others (there are too many hidden pages in this router - what else are we missing out on??)  :thumb:

True, but I'm sure secunia would list a patch maybe, companies seem so slow at patching these days, its the wait till it gets bad then do something about it idea, and in these times that bad

they are one of the best. why did you not go for a local prefix code?

EvilPC

Just felt 0845 hide my location from others  :P

I think I can change it ??  any benefit ??

g7pkf

people can phone you using there inclusive minutes.

0845 tend to be local rate charged at al times.

EvilPC

Good point.

I'll see if I can change it !!

EvilPC

I've changed the 0845 to a local STD number.

Configured the 2700 and it's working fine !!  :o
Sound quality is very good, not much different to a normal PSTN call.

If I try dialling out I get  message advising I have no credit, so I've only tested inbound at the moment.
I may add some credit and see how it goes.

SIPGate offer 1,000 UK minutes for £5.90 which doesn't seem to bad !

If anyone else get's it working, email me your number and I'll call you :)

Rik

Let us know how you get on in the longer term, will you. Does it work with any type of phone, eg DECT?

EvilPC

I just plugged a cheap standard BT phone in with out any issues.

Can't see why a DECT would cause any problem.. It connects to the router the same.
I've used DECT with other hosted IP Services before.. not caused any issues.

Configuration was easy, worked first time. Calls to 0800 numbers are free and a good way to test that everything is working well. Helps to make sure 2 way speech etc.

Thanks for that/  :thumb:

any standard analogue phone will work wired dect etc etc.

only problem sometimes happens if they need the ring wire.

dean

oh and if anyone wants to test sipgate without putting credit on my sipgate number is 9992246

Rik

The lack of a ring wire, can it be worked around?

g7pkf

depends on the ata design.

with my voipon 7050 it has "dongles" that provide the cap/res to give the ring wire.

most phones under 5 years old its not a problem.
