2700HGV Dual SSID & Wireless Strength

Has anyone tried any of the hacks to increase the wireless strength on the 2700HGV Dual SSID ??
Firmware 5.29.107.19

Mine is currently set at :
sys:  Wireless power set to 25

Thought I might increase it slightly to see if it helps with on PC that has a few signal strength issues.

(also is opera the only option of doing this ??)

Whilst it is possible to alter the entries in the router for wireless strength, tests elsewhere have shown the actually  transmitted strength remains unaltered in most cases.  Firmware 2wire_reinstall_voice_5.29.117.3 does give the increase if you don't change to a BT provisioning code.

What people forget when trying to increase range using higher power settings in the router, is that the wifi receiver at the other end is still on the original power output and there is no effective increase in range back to the router.

Higher power settings are illegal in the UK, if you cause interference it will be investigated and the fines are always high. ( eg. if a passing fire engine notices interference on it's comms it is always passed on for investigation and I imagine the police are the same.

The new N routers now look for other wifi networks and drop their output to not cause interference, so having a router blasting out illegally probably is not the best thing to do for your wallet or health or for your neighbours wifi, phones etc.

I wasn't planning to 'blast' out a wireless signal..  just tweak it slightly

I was thinking of running a lead over to Sandy and hooking it up to the 1.2MW transmitter there.
