Interesting article for those who find this aspect of Vista very annoying here

Rik

That's another fine link you've got us into, Mad. ;)  :thumb:

I must admit I don't find the uac annoying Mad, its been reduced in SP1 anyway and apart from installing software or running a few programmes I never really see it :)
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

That's true Gary - it's just that when you are installing a few things together - for instance when you set a PC up, it does get a little wearing shall we say  ;)

Rik

I think where I would hit problems would be if Sue was using the machine, she'd always want to check with me first, so we'd both end up getting nothing done.

I spent 18 hours putting all my software on this pc Mad so I know, but I think bypassing it defeats the point of it, works arounds maybe but I never trust short cuts ;D each to there own on this one, but after while another click is just that, another click ;D

Its really not that bad Rik, basically it asks you if you started the action, you know you did so you say yes, game over. :) I think my medication helps with this maybe......

Rik

Sue would never want to say yes, though, without double-checking with me, Gary.

Justina does not get a chance to get to even touch the keypad let alone ask Rik, I know what she did to her laptop ;)

I can certainly see the point of it, just gets me a little frustrated sometimes - suppose it's all down to individual perception - I know it's me that wants to do it, and I suppose I'm expecting the PC to know that too  ;D

Aprt from UAC, I have no problems whatsoever with Vista - I like it  :thumb:

Sue uses any machine she wants to, I know she won't risk anything without checking with me. :)

I like Vista too and I don't mind the security checks, it's all in a good cause. I wouldn't go back to XP now.

Rik

Have you started using the fingerprint reader, Noreen?

Noreen

No, Rik. I couldn't get it to work with my fingers, finger tips very smooth at my age. ;D Not bothered about it as nobody else uses the computer.

Rik

I'm always wary of such devices anyway - unless they have a back door, they can lock you out from the machine. So, you're well placed to commit the perfect crime then, eh? ;)

I dare say that the police have more sophisticated hardware.

Rik

Just a tad. ;) But I keep taking notes during CSI, just in case. ;D

I don't like Miami, too much Horatio-time, but the original and NY are great.

I agree the Miami one is so false even the tinted skies get to me, and the characters are just.... but the original is the best, and I like the NY one, the first season was very dark of that but its changed and really works well now

Tbh Gary, I think a lot of the peeps who are so anti Vista either just haven't given it a proper try, or are just  listening to what they read/other peeps say and following the herd  :)

I don't like Miami either - Horatio just comes across as smug and objectionable. I still think the original is the best - Grissom is a right know it all, but you know that's because he does know it all, and he's spent years amassing that knowledge  :thumb:
