Does anyone know if this is something that Idnet will tap into in the near future..see article on link:

And how do you find out how far you are from the exchange?

Unfortunately for me, Lee, I'm at that end of the graph where the two lines converge.  :'(

Heh Rik,

Firstly are you like omipotent...you are on every area of the forum, or are you some kind of gestalt entity  ;D

Secondly how do you know how far you are from the exchange? I can't figure out where it tells you that little ditty of info.

Hi Lee,

The omnipotent one has left the building, and is probably now stuffing his face.  :food:  Until his return, you may find some of the info you need here:  http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php

Hi Simon,

Thanks for that, I'll go and have a goosey!

Wow we are only about 1000 yards from the exchange!

Great thing of living in a little village that has its own exchange.

It is something that IDNet, and most other ISPs, will offer in the future. Ultimately, it's just a wholesale product that BT will offer to ISPs, much like the IPStream Max we're used to now.

I'm more omni-directional. ;)

You'd make a good wireless antenna. ;)

Rik

Bass, of course, has no directionality. :)

You say that, and I believe it to be correct, Rik, but I can hear my sub-woofer more clearly in some parts of the room than others.

Hearing is influenced by furnishings, Simon. It doesn't mean there's directionality on the sound, merely that there may be absorbtion or obstruction in some areas.

Possibly, but I don't think it's quite that simple, Malc, as it often sounds more resonant if I am farther away, or not directly in line with it.  :)

Resonance is another factor, of course. All sounds will amplify if the acoustics are right for the frequency.

I have 24bit available through BE at my exchange, but it's taken years to settle into a decent ISP.
I won't be jumping ship unless IDNet refuse to offer 24mb when it's available widely, and I can't see that happening.
